FAQ

What's your style of photography?

Fun-loving, care-free, and authentic

I love to capture families interacting and engaging with each other and the environment. I choose NOT to have clients looking at the camera the entire session. I rather have them playing, snuggling, running, and truly enjoying themselves. Providing a fun experience is a priority to me as well as producing beautiful images.

I enjoy natural-backlit lighting situations and very rarely use artificial light.

We're visiting and not sure where to have our session at. Do you have suggestions?

I have scouted various locations around the island and curated them into a handy location brochure that I send over to clients once their deposit is made and session locked in.

Within that brochure, each location has a map, description of unique characteristics and what type of session/family it's best suited for. Some easily accessible and others a little off the beaten path. There's something for everyone!

What time of day is best?

I typically only shoot at sunrise or sunset. I've found those are the most flattering lighting situations for golden images.

Do you offer mini sessions?

I do not always offer minis. They are limited to certain times of year and Mondays-thursdays. I'm happy to check my availability if that's what you're interested in.

I'm not sure what to wear? Can you help with styling?

Upon booking we'll discuss what type of look you're going for and what type of outfits best suit your family's style and preferences. I'm happy to help with color schemes and outfit choices.

You'll also gain access to an online styling service STYLE + SELECT that will offer curated online shops that are specifically great for photoshoots.

How long does it take to get my gallery finished?

Gallery delivery is no later than 2 weeks after your session. You'll receive a link via email to download all the high-resolution images.

Rush editing is available for an additional fee.

Do you offer prints?

Prints are available in the online gallery. Although you're not restricted to only ordering through me. You'll receive the printing rights to images and can print with whichever lab of your choosing.

I'm worried about my kids participating for the whole session. How should we prepare them?

Prepping them the day of the session can make the world of difference. Have a busy morning and sneak in a nap. Let them know we're going to hang out with "Auntie Jamie" and take some nice photos and then we can explore the beach and look for shells/build sand castles/ or whatever might interest them.

Pack some snacks for reinforcements and if you're open to bribery, let me know they can have a sweet treat at the end!

Little kids, big kids, and even husbands won't sit for an hour with a smile plastered on their face, and I don't expect them to! We'll definitely take the "looking at the camera" Christmas cards for a few minutes in the beginning but majority of our time spent together will be interacting with each playing, snuggling, exploring, etc. That way your family/kiddos can interact with each other and the environment and stay engaged throughout the session.

And even if your kiddo isn't super smily and giggly, there are still beautiful moments in between the snuggles and comforting.

Do you travel to other islands besides Big Island?

I'd love the opportunity to travel and shoot on any of the Hawaiian Islands! Travel sessions require airfare, one night hotel stay and transportation to be taken care of by the client.
